When Motivation is Low, Discipline Must Take Over

Let’s be real—there are days (or even weeks) when this business can wear you down.

Wisconsin winters are long and gray, the market is unpredictable, deals fall through, and clients go cold. Suddenly, that fire you had to make calls, follow up, and put in the work just isn’t there. I get it.

But here’s the thing: motivation is fleeting. It comes and goes like the seasons. Discipline is what keeps you in the game.

When your energy is low and the thought of dialing another number feels exhausting, you have to lean on your habits, not your feelings. Because let’s be honest—if we only worked when we felt like it, our businesses would be in trouble.

Focus on the Next 45-60 Days

Real estate is a long game. The work you put in today won’t pay off tomorrow—it pays off in 45, 60, or even 90 days from now. If you let today’s frustration keep you from doing the work, your future self is the one who will suffer.

So when you’re feeling unmotivated, shift your mindset from “I don’t feel like it” to “What needs to be done?” You don’t have to feel inspired to be productive. You just have to show up.

How to Push Through When Motivation is Low:

Stick to Your Schedule – If you’ve committed to making calls from 9-11 AM, do it. No negotiations.

Lower the Resistance – Start with the easiest task to build momentum.

Lean on Your Why – Remind yourself why you’re doing this. Your goals, your family, your future.

Accountability Matters – Check in with a teammate, mentor, or me. Let’s keep each other moving forward.

Just Take the First Step – Action creates momentum. One call leads to another.

Discipline is what separates the agents who ride the waves of the market from those who create their own success. So even when it’s tough—especially when it’s tough—dig deep, do the work, and your future self will thank you.

Let’s get after it. 🚀
